Role Overview

As a Mission Critical Installation Engineer, the successful candidate will work primarily on installation projects within live critical environments, including data centres and other mission-critical facilities.

The role focuses on the installation and commissioning of CRAC units, VRV/VRF systems, refrigerant pipework, and major chiller projects. Around 90% of the work takes place in live critical environments, requiring engineers to be comfortable working under CDM regulations, permits, RAMS, and established site procedures.

The position is suited to an experienced installation engineer who has built substantial experience in CRAC and/or VRV/VRF systems and is looking to progress toward a supervisory position.

Key Responsibilities as Mission Critical Installation Engineer

• Install CRAC units and other critical cooling equipment
• Install and work on VRV/VRF systems
• Install, route, and braze refrigerant pipework
• Commission equipment in accordance with manufacturer standards
• Work safely within live critical environments
• Follow CDM requirements, permits, RAMS, and site procedures
• Work from technical drawings and project specifications
• Support major chiller installation and replacement projects
• Complete engineering work independently while working alongside project teams
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and workmanship
• Work closely with project management to deliver installation programmes

Salary & Working Pattern

• £58,000–£63,000 basic salary, depending on experience
• Monday to Friday, 50-hour working week
• Door-to-door travel paid when working late from home
• Permanent position
• London and South East coverage
• No call-out obligation

Career Progression

The company provides a clear development route for the successful engineer. The long-term intention is to develop the right individual into a Project Supervisor role.

This progression would involve taking on additional CDM responsibilities and overseeing subcontractors. The Project Supervisor position currently carries a salary of approximately £65,000.
