The role will contribute to scalable digital solutions supporting millions of member interactions while helping shape technical direction and engineering standards.

Role Overview

As a Lead Software Engineer / Tech Lead at Nuffield Health, the successful candidate will provide technical leadership across Digital, Integrations, Salesforce, and Data Engineering workstreams.

The role will involve defining technical solutions, guiding engineering teams, managing technical dependencies, and ensuring that solutions meet Nuffield Health’s enterprise architecture and software engineering standards.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the transformation of Nuffield Health’s digital fitness and wellbeing experience, including member apps, digital bookings, payments, account management, personalised recommendations, and automated employee processes.

Key Responsibilities as Lead Software Engineer / Tech Lead

• Provide technical leadership across Digital, Integrations, Salesforce, and Data Engineering workstreams
• Define low-level solution designs and integration approaches for third-party systems
• Take accountability for engineering quality, consistency, and delivery across multiple workstreams
• Work closely with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, engineering teams, and third-party partners
• Manage technical dependencies and identify potential cross-workstream risks
• Ensure solutions follow Nuffield Health’s enterprise architecture and software engineering standards
• Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback to engineering teams
• Promote engineering best practices and maintain high technical standards without direct line-management responsibility
• Support the transition of solutions into service management
• Ensure applications are stable, maintainable, scalable, and operationally ready
• Contribute to the development of digital experiences for Nuffield Health members and employees

Desirable Technical Experience

• Cross-platform mobile development, particularly React Native with Expo
• Web development using React.js, Node.js, HTML, and CSS/Sass
• Java API integrations
• Data Engineering
• Salesforce
• CMS platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager
• Payment service integrations such as Adyen
• Knowledge of the fitness and wellbeing industry
