Role Overview
As the Global Portfolio Optimization Lead, the successful candidate will support Dechra’s worldwide efforts to strategically advance its product portfolio through lifecycle management and geographical expansion. This role works cross-functionally with R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Regional Business Units, and Financial Modelling & Evaluation to assess and execute geo-expansion opportunities.
The position requires deep expertise in the animal health industry—including companion animal, equine, and emerging technology segments—as well as the ability to navigate global markets and regulatory environments. This role can be based remotely in the US or UK.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a global portfolio expansion strategy aligned with corporate growth priorities

Identify white-space opportunities across species, therapeutic areas, and geographic markets

Maintain a pipeline roadmap supporting revenue growth and lifecycle management

Lead the assessment of global expansion opportunities in collaboration with R&D, Regulatory, Commercial, and Manufacturing teams

Partner with Financial Evaluation & Modelling to ensure accurate ROI/NPV calculations and risk analysis

Support internal portfolio review processes, stage gate decisions, SKU rationalization, and divestitures

Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing

Represent the company at industry conferences and partnering events to maximize outside-in thinking
Skills & Experience Required

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field

Prior experience in Animal Health, Pharmaceutical Portfolio Strategy, or lifecycle management

Deep understanding of the global animal health market, including key therapeutic areas, regulatory frameworks, and commercial dynamics

Extensive global experience in portfolio and lifecycle management strategy within animal health, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences

Experience in digital health or innovative go-to-market models

Knowledge of key markets, including Europe, North America, LATAM, and Asia-Pacific

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills

Strong background in product lifecycle management and go-to-market strategy

Experience leading cross-functional teams in a global/matrix environment

Ability to travel as required
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $200,000–$230,000 plus bonus
