GXO Logistics is currently recruiting a Senior HR Advisor to join its Sherburn-in-Elmet operation in West Yorkshire. The role provides comprehensive HR support across a large and diverse 24/7 operation, working closely with site leadership to support people strategy, employee engagement, talent, and compliance.

Role Overview

As a Senior HR Advisor with GXO Logistics, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the site’s People Plan and supporting a high-performing and engaged workforce.

The position involves partnering with senior leaders and operational teams, providing expert HR guidance, managing complex employee relations matters, and supporting talent and performance initiatives. The successful candidate will also contribute to HR projects and may deputise for the HR Manager when required.

This position is ideal for an experienced HR professional with strong employee relations knowledge, excellent influencing skills, and experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities as Senior HR Advisor

  • Support and drive site culture initiatives alongside senior leaders and operational teams
  • Enhance the employee experience throughout the colleague lifecycle
  • Lead talent management and succession planning activities
  • Support performance management, development plans, appraisals, and annual performance cycles
  • Provide expert HR advice on disciplinary, grievance, TUPE, redundancy, performance, and absence matters
  • Manage and advise on complex employee relations cases
  • Coach and develop managers to improve their people-management capability
  • Support training and development initiatives
  • Drive employee engagement and organisational change activities
  • Contribute to HR projects, people analytics, and continuous improvement
  • Support the delivery of the site’s People Plan
  • Deputise for the HR Manager when required

Shift Pattern & Salary

  • £38,000 per year
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00am–4:00pm
  • Based in Sherburn-in-Elmet, West Yorkshire
  • Supports a large 24/7 logistics operation

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Senior HR Advisor, HR Advisor, or HR Generalist Experience within a fast-paced operational, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of UK employment law Proven experience managing employee relations processes and complex cases Experience with talent management and succession planning Understanding of employee engagement and organisational change Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills Ability to build credibility and constructively challenge stakeholders at different levels Ideally CIPD Level 5 qualified or above Excellent organisational skills and a passion for developing people and supporting positive workplace change
