Role Overview

As an Ofcom Board Representative for Northern Ireland, the successful candidate will join Ofcom’s main Board as a Non-Executive Member representing Northern Ireland. The appointee will have the same UK-wide responsibilities as other Non-Executive Board Members while also bringing issues affecting Northern Ireland and its consumers to the Board’s attention.

The role involves contributing to Board discussions, engaging with stakeholders including the Northern Ireland Executive and Assembly, and supporting Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Northern Ireland. The successful candidate may also be required to chair the committee.

The appointment is for up to four years, with a commitment of up to two days per week. The successful candidate will also be expected to serve on and/or chair one or more Board committees.

Key Responsibilities as Ofcom Board Representative

• Contribute effectively to Ofcom Board discussions and collective decision-making
• Represent issues particularly relevant to Northern Ireland and its consumers
• Consider the diverse needs of citizens and consumers across Northern Ireland
• Bring communications issues affecting Northern Ireland to the Board’s attention
• Engage with stakeholders across Northern Ireland
• Work with Board colleagues representing different parts of the UK
• Contribute to Ofcom’s strategic objectives, priorities, governance, and risk oversight
• Support the effective oversight of Ofcom’s statutory responsibilities
• Serve on and/or chair one or more Board committees
• Play a key role in Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Northern Ireland
• Provide constructive challenge and support across complex areas of responsibility
• Maintain independence, political impartiality, confidentiality, and high standards of integrity

• £42,519 per year
