Role Overview

As a Slinger Lift Supervisor at BAE Systems, the successful candidate will be based at HM Naval Base Portsmouth, supporting maintenance, repair and manufacturing activities for military and commercial customers.

The role involves working within the Load Test Facility and afloat environments to safely deliver planned and reactive lifting operations. The successful candidate will lead lifting activities from planning through to completion while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and operational performance.

This position is suited to an experienced lifting professional with strong technical knowledge, practical lifting experience and the ability to supervise intermediate and complex lifting operations.

Key Responsibilities as Slinger Lift Supervisor

• Plan and lead lifting activities from preparation through to completion.
• Carry out slinging, fleeting and overhead crane operations.
• Support planned and reactive lifting activities across the Load Test Facility and afloat environments.
• Operate and support lifting equipment including chain blocks and overhead cranes.
• Lead and supervise complex lifting operations in accordance with approved lift plans.
• Maintain compliance with PUWER and LOLER regulations.
• Apply safe systems of work throughout lifting operations.
• Interpret and apply crane hand signals in accordance with BS 7121.
• Promote safe and effective communication during lifting activities.
• Work collaboratively with teams involved in high-risk, intermediate and complex lifts.
• Support maintenance, repair and manufacturing projects for military and commercial customers.
• Use technical expertise, lifting experience and digital tools to support the safe movement of loads.
