Role Overview

As a Security Officer, the successful candidate will help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. Working both independently and as part of a wider security team, the role involves carrying out patrols, monitoring access points, and responding to incidents with professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities as Security Officer

  • Conduct regular site patrols, including interior and exterior areas, to identify and mitigate security risks
  • Monitor and operate CCTV and alarm systems, ensuring prompt response to alerts
  • Control access to buildings by managing ID badges, visitor logs, and entry protocols
  • Complete accurate daily reports on incidents, accidents, and security activities
  • Support car park management and maintain order in surrounding areas
  • Assist in preventing acts of violence, crime, or disorder through visible presence and effective communication
  • Apply restraint and control techniques professionally and legally when required
  • Uphold health, safety, and security protocols at all time

Shift Pattern & Pay

  • £13.71–£13.75 per hour (depending on location and contract
  • Full-time contract: 36–42 hours per week
  • Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, with enhanced pay rates for unsocial hours

Requirements

  • Valid SIA license or eligibility to obtain one (where applicable) Previous experience in security, customer service, or a related field (preferred but not essential) Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with diverse individuals Calm, resilient, and able to work under pressure in a healthcare environment Computer literate with ability to complete digital reports and logs Eye for detail, proactive attitude, and commitment to safety and professionalism
