Cosworth is a specialist engineering and technology company working across high-performance automotive, motorsport, powertrain, and advanced engineering applications. Its Northampton teams operate advanced manufacturing and engineering facilities supporting technically demanding programmes.

Role Overview

As a CNC Maintenance Technician with Cosworth, the successful candidate will join the Maintenance team in Northampton and be responsible for maintaining and optimising CNC machine tools and associated manufacturing equipment.

The role will involve electrical and mechanical maintenance, systematic fault-finding, preventative maintenance, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing facility. Cosworth is recruiting for two positions, offering either a day shift or a three-shift rotation covering early, late, and night shifts.

This position is suited to a technically skilled maintenance professional with strong CNC machine-tool experience, proactive problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities as CNC Maintenance Technician

  • Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance on CNC machine tools and manufacturing equipment
  • Perform systematic fault-finding and troubleshoot machinery and ancillary equipment
  • Implement and maintain scheduled preventative maintenance and TPM programmes
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop appropriate Health & Safety procedures
  • Establish and maintain standard methods of work
  • Identify and manage critical spare-parts requirements
  • Support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment
  • Consider environmental, energy, and health and safety impacts during all activities
  • Follow Cosworth policies relating to UK GDPR and data protection
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and proactive maintenance initiatives

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with ABB/Fanuc robot cells or FMS systems
  • 17th Edition Regulations certification
  • Previous CNC field-based service engineering experience

Shift Pattern & Pay

  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Northampton
  • Working arrangement: On-site
  • Available positions: 2
  • Day Shift: Day working pattern
  • Three-Shift Rotation: Rotating early, late, and night shifts on a weekly basis
  • Shift allowance: 23.5% for the three-shift rotation

Requirements
