Role Overview

As a Relief Security Officer, the successful candidate will provide flexible, high-standard security cover across multiple client sites. This role involves protecting people, property, and assets by delivering visible, professional security services in line with each site’s Assignment Instructions (AIs) and operational procedures. The position is ideal for someone adaptable, reliable, and confident working independently while representing Mitie and its clients with integrity.

Relief officers must be prepared to travel between locations, quickly learn new site protocols, and maintain consistent performance under varying conditions. This role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to develop a broad skill set within the security industry.

Key Responsibilities as Relief Security Officer

• Patrol sites and control access points in line with Assignment Instructions

• Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, and alarms

• Liaise with emergency services, client staff, and Mitie management when required

• Provide excellent customer service to visitors, staff, and stakeholders

• Complete accurate incident reports, notebook entries, and administrative documentation

• Monitor CCTV, access control, and other protective systems where applicable

• Identify and report health and safety hazards or security risks immediately

• Maintain a high-visibility, deterrent presence to prevent crime, loss, or damage

• Follow all site-specific security procedures, policies, and legal requirements

• Uphold Mitie’s standards of turnout, conduct, and professionalism at all times

Shift Pattern & Pay

• Competitive hourly rate (dependent on site and licence type)

• Flexible relief shifts covering days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays

• Travel between client sites as required

• Additional pay enhancements for night shifts and bank holidays may apply
